TempleOS Predicted Coronachan
Most of us by now know who Terry A. Davis, the author of TempleOS was. He was a diagnosed schizophrenic who wrote an entire operating system just to talk to God. He would often go on slur-laden rants online while he livestreamed his programming sessions. He is also responsible for the "glow in the dark CIA niggers" meme online, which later transformed into quite a few variations like "glowniggers," "glowies," and so on.
Here is the video where he stated this meme:
One thing that's worth noticing, though, is what came up from his random word picker:
Do you see that? "China virus election."
The memes write themselves.

It's called an operating system because it operates the user. TempleOS sets you free. Terry understood that computers are a CIA prison ever since IBM gutted INT 18H and ROM BASIC, forcing the user into either writing their own bare-metal system or locking themselves in the golden nigger chains of Microsoft, Apple, and the marginally more malleable ropes of GNU/Linux. Only TempleOS lets you be a free spirit - a glorious monkey swinging on the bars. Operating systems put you in a CIA prison. You can take away their knives by installing TempleOS today.

King Terry warned us all and we did not listen. Praise the King and god bless Terry for warning us. If only we had noticed.
It's not too late to repent and install TempleOS today. Make offerings to Mr. God and he will tell you the truth and nothing but the truth, so help Mr. God. Terry was right about everything. Press F7 to talk to God. Don't you want to be a super genius? God gave Terry divine intellect so that he could save us from the absolute shitshow that is modern computing, and all you can do is parrot his accurate pinpointing of CIA niggers as the major threat against spiritual freedom we face today. Sure, it's true, but it would be wise to advance further and learn how to fight the CIA niggers on their home turf instead of grazing like a vile nigger cow in a puddle of mud. Fuck the M.I.T. fighting the last war nigger.

>The Death Star III, also known as the third Death Star, was a mock Death Star battle station created from an incomplete worldcraft by the Kaarenth Dissension. In 4.3 ABY, Supreme Commander Ennix Devian of the Kaarenth Dissension used this false Death Star to create a diversion at the temportary Alliance of Free Planets capital of Endor while his forces stealthily hijacked countless warships from neighboring Alliance shipyards. While the Kaarenth Dissension's sophisticated feint was a successful distraction, this so-called Death Star III was ultimately destroyed by Red Squadron when Red Leader made a direct hit to its unprotected thermal exhaust port.

You guys ever think that TempleOS was just a test to see how well an off-the-grid computer programmer can design a rebellious operating system? Terry was allowed to be as self-destructive as he wanted, all while creating an operating system that shows other computer programmers that we can develop our own operating systems without intelligence agencies gaining any power over them.
Terry was a genuine prophet, and he warned us of the dangers of the modern computing ecosystem and its intentional complexity beyond any rational design. Computers have been stagnant for decades beyond the precious minimization which is headed for a brick wall, at which point we're going to have to deal with the fallout anyway. Terry set a foundation for a minimally viable operating system that respects the user more than any arbitrary license agreement can. TempleOS is public domain.
This guy gets it. Remember, 24-bit color is heresy - at most, God will grudgingly accept 8-bit indexed palettes. Don't test his patience.

It's not hard to concatenate the links if they're broken by formatting, and if that doesn't work, hit up the root video directory and CTRL+F tongues and/or random. Work harder, Nigel.
Terry grew up (and arguably never grew out of) the 80s-90s era of computing, which was adamant about user control and RTFM, something which modern users have largely never known outside of a niche technical audience. The result of this is the 2007 iPhone normiecaust of the internet, except on a much larger scale, and it's been happening ever since the mid-90s to computing in its entirety. TempleOS does 4.5 million task swaps per second: Windows 7 does 40.000 on a good day. TempleOS takes up 2MB of disk space and could likely be trimmed onto a floppy disk, whereas a modern operating system swallows excessive amounts of storage and memory to perform basic tasks that have been theoretically solved since the 60s. Multi-threading was a solved science in 1973, and yet modern game developers largely can't even get a single-threaded game working right. The user has never been as fucked and herded as they are today, and the worst part is that none of them realize it; that's where Terry comes in, because his videography as a whole explains every single problem with computers as they exist today. He's absolutely correct on technical details and foundational knowledge, and elegantly bypasses the high-level red herring that places like /g/ skim over in favor of headphone discussion and anime girl wallpapers. Terry Davis was a super genius. Study him and be free.

Ok, guess you don't want to play doom eternal anyways

Because it's largely a conceptual system and personal project, which means that the API is largely on-line (the old definition, which means the system is self-documenting as opposed to wikis or shithubs), most of the included software beyond the basic shell utilities and interpreter/compiler consist of demos, and a range of similar 'issues'. Terry said that TempleOS was always intended to be a modern Commodore 64, and it perfectly suits that description: the user is meant to solve their own problems. The C64 had BASIC: TempleOS has HolyC. You solve the issues that pertain to you. There's no networking because airgapping is the only security you'll get. The whole idea of design by committee goes directly towards the project goal. Do you want to be dependent on a bunch of shitposting developers, or do you want to be computationally self-reliant? If the answer is the former, stick to GNU/Linux for a relatively unpozzed (but rapidly decaying) ecosystem.
Also, see .
I'm not the OP, Shakir.
We'll get a TempleOS port of Doom soon enough, which is the only good Doom game anyway. Doom is a trilogy, and it ends with 64.

Terry shows us what an alternate path to computing would have looked like. He was a true wizard of low-level coding and his operating system, while humorous on the surface, is technically ahead of the nigger-technology we use today. He could have been a Steve Jobs, or a Linus Torvalds, a Paul Allen or a Bill Gates. In fact of them, he's easily the most intelligent.
The difference between

If templeOS is that bloatless it is functionally the best OS ever made, its not about not doing things for yourself, you should do things for yourself, but the idea that the little guy could make big games again strikes me as a humongous deal

Space time transforms.
Also completely on point. What's doubly hilarious is that if you know your vintage operating systems, you'll realize that TempleOS isn't that different from a lot of them, except for the fact that its creator is way ahead of the average Silicon Valley MIT nigger. An indepth examination of why the system works as it does is readily available: run the fucking system itself and read the help files. Make use of the hypertext documentation and you'll have an epiphany if you know anything about low-level hardware details and OS design.
I forgot to mention this: one big problem with games today is that of graphical bloat. That's the exact topic he talks about in the "17 minute schizo ramble" - the fact that Intel's been doing nothing but adding bloated instructions to the architecture instead of adding rudimentary rendering primitives like optimizations for, say, triangle fills. Instead, we get 3000+ of 16-bit address space opcode bullshit that might find one or two uses within highly dubious 'scientific computing', which is largely a sham in most cases: read Mathis and Kaczynski to understand the enormous con that is high mathematics.
true but that's probably the most well known terry video in existence

TempleOS is the first stepping stone to a computing ecosystem that isn't entirely fucked. It's technically incomplete, but does most of what you'd expect from a bare-metal CPU-only OS. It's 64-bit only, which makes writing assembly code an actual possibility instead of a complete waste of time. We should look to it for guidance while continuously educating ourselves so we can all chip in towards a better digital world. Remember, you feel really shitty if you don't do your work, but if you do your work, it's fucking awesome.

Imagine still not understanding Terry was a prophet, driven mad by what he had seen and what he know.
RIP Terry
It's things like this that make me believe in miracles.
It's not that simple, but one thing should be absolutely clear to anyone - you cannot properly understand computers when the system itself refuses to let you understand. There used to be a lovely expression: 'power user'. Sure, nowadays it's drowned in a largely /r/rust-tranny connotation, but it refers to a user who doesn't necessarily know how everything works at a silicon level, but still has the ability to learn how to use their computer more effectively instead of languishing in some shitty premade GUI and having to beg the developers for solutions to everything. Terry coined the term 'user developer', which I think is much more relevant in this day and age. The user should be the developer, and the developer should be the user. Anything else is the extension of consumerism into a world of (practically) infinite computational resources, which is begging for trouble when the millionth 'PC master race' nigger starts shitposting on a game forum when he doesn't know how to read the god damn .ini file and tweak the three lines that solve the problem he's having.

There's a forked project - Shrine, I believe - which adds a network stack, and you can shitpost on imageboards with it. I'm still against the idea because it goes strictly against Terry's charter, but I personally wouldn't mind a networked minimalistic OS if it's done sanely and transparently.
All you need is some decent virtual machine software. Terry used a commercial one - for free alternatives, if you're on W7/10, you'll do fine with something like VBox, and if you're on Linux, QEMU is fine as long as you remember to enable KVM in order to run at more than 3-5 FPS. There are tutorials floating around as to how.
Fuck you, Google niggers. I'm not spam, I'm spreading gospel. Stop fighting the last war. The CIA doesn't want a userbase which recognizes the threats against free computing - freedom beyond any extent that the FSF could ever guarantee.
He was toying with the idea of RS232 if my memory is correct so it may not be off the charter.
Some of his last videos were explicitly on the topic of hardware, and a lot of the internal documentation talks about theoretical high-speed serial ports, so yeah. I think he viewed RS232 more as the lower common denominator and a more direct alternative to the fuckery that is USB.
What exactly is wrong with USB?
As it's currently known by users: mostly nothing. Under the surface: standard and complexity creep. The retards in the industry are overhauling fucking MIDI of all things, because as everyone knows, working things need to be fixed. Similarly, we keep getting USB model updates because - among other, but less numerous legitimate reasons - the normies need their 600 gb/s transfer speeds, and all it leads to is a shitshow for driver developers.
that makes sense, but its still better than each company having their own cord and having to have 50 different kinds of ports, which is the issue they were made to solve
Okay CIA
as much as that sounds nice, this changes the face of software forever, and if used properly completely removes the power people like zuckerburg have over the internet, because if you don't like facebook, you can *make your own* and you don't need to hire 100 people to do it. it *should* be networked
install it, read the documentation, start solving problems for yourself

The retards in the industry are overhauling fucking MIDI of all things, because as everyone knows, working things need to be fixed. Similarly, we keep getting USB model updates because - among other, but less numerous legitimate reasons - the normies need their 600 gb/s transfer speeds, and all it leads to is a shitshow for driver developers.
that makes sense, but its still better than each company having their own cord and having to have 50 different kinds of ports, which is the issue they were made to solve
Fuck jannies. Can you even do a triangle fill?
Mods and trannies mad that the nigger cattle know.
Does somebody have the screenshot of Terry calling someone in the youtube comment section "the blackest gorilla nigger I've ever seen"

He gave us the tools we need to save ourselves, make templeOS what it should be
At the cost of a single point of failure. Don't get me wrong and miss the forest for the trees - I'm not saying that USB in itself is bad, but that the whole philosophy which led to USB (among other things) needs to be carefully reconsidered. Consider the reason the IBM PC succeeded where dozens, if not hundreds of other personal computers failed - it established an early foundation for peripherals to add onto on a case-specific basis as opposed to trying to solve everyone's problems at once. At its core, this is similar to the monolithic kernel debate in, for instance, the Linux community - do we have a single blob of system code that needs to do everything, or do we outsource components to kernel modules that can then be independently developed while still remaining compatible with the core framework? It's a very gray area.
TempleOS has never given me a single incorrect oracle, whether by F7 or Shift+F7. YMMV, but I trust it more than I trust any other single piece of software, the sole exception being Doom.
Amen, brother.
I fired up may templeOS laptop and asked for a passage, it gave me John 10:24 I think and then John 11:1 through 11:6
John 11:6 - When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.
I've been staying home sick and go back to work today. I didn't realize my templeOS laptop was a holy item.

>why don't we develop software for it?
Because it lacks every feature of a modern OS. Maybe some bias here but in the 1990's Linux was what Temple OS is today. It lacked everything and everything had to be written from scratch or heavily modified BSD code. Everything. Bootloaders, drivers, the OS itself, C libraries, compilers, everything. Just to get some graphics working was a bitch. X was not ported and it didn't help that the community wasn't anywhere near as big as it is today. Only if you've worked with Linux since 1990's you'd understand how painful it was. The only reason Linux is now the best OS out there is because of support from big corporations. Most nigger cattle never saw the distribution wars, .DEB vs .RPM, (no APT!!), KDE vs GNOME and even now X vs Wayland, it was pure fucking hell. All those sleepless nights developing software for nothing because your distribution suddenly decided to abandon GNOME or something. We are not going to go through all that shit again.
Linux is free open source and you can strip the kernel to run some old 64 bit office workhorse and build a streamlined machine of your liking. You do not need Temple OS. Linux can do the same but better. Terry was amazing talent writing all that by himself but it is no match for Linux nor can it ever be. The Linux community started to grow up in early 90's and anyone who knows who these guys are, will never question the quality of Linux. It is the best OS out there and always will be.
If you want a modern OS that can run YouTube videos with sound but you don't want bloat and CIA niggers are a concern, you install Xubuntu LTS or Linux Mint and your problems are solved for good. To install and use Xubuntu, you need only 512 MB of memory and only 7.5 GB of free space on your hard disk. Once you get used to that speed and smooth operation you will never go back to nigger cattle OS like Windows or Mac.

>a human brain on Linux
disgusting
All very astute and accurate observations. Terry himself said that TempleOS was meant to be run in a VM, and Linux - with the right distro, which is sadly a shrinking subset - is a very capable daily driver. Fuck, he himself used plain Ubuntu. The point is rather that a lot of the positive traits of minimalism are long lost in modern Linux, and while it's still leaps and bounds ahead of any other operating system in terms of time investment to functionality, there's still a lot of untapped potential in the 90s development philosophy: particularly so since we now understand most of those named issues to a much better degree than historically. I don't think it's a bad idea to consider establishing a parallel ecosystem while the current one slowly crashes and burns, and while TempleOS may not be the first choice due to its idiosyncracies - not to mention complete lack of networking, which is pretty critical unless you're a cabin hermit - it has its place as a playground for people to easily understand the tradeoffs of a low-level OS.
Don't discount the perkele, Finns know their shit when it comes to technology. I miss Future Crew.
You have that backwards fren, nothing is more Chad than temple

TempleOS didn't do it, it's just a medium to talk to god through.

They disbanded to form Futuremark, Remedy Entertainment and BitBoys. They wrote games such as Max Payne, Alan Wake, Quantum Break, Control.
Control is actually released just last fall. I have a feeling they are going towards VR next.
Do you have to be smart to learn how to code? I'm stuck at home what programming language would be best to learn? Thanks.
I knew about Remedy, but somehow missed out on the first and last ones. A thankful salmiakki and a sauna to you, Jaakko.
It depends on how you define 'smart'. It's 90% reading documentation and 10% solving actual problems, unless you go absolute madman and do everything from scratch like our prophet did, at which point it's essentially just applied math with a sprinkle of linguistics (i.e. not fucking up your syntax, and most 'safe' languages will take care of that at compile time).
It's a fun hobby, but I don't know if I'd recommend it as a profession, because no amount of money can make up for the soul-crushing nature of modern programming, with the exception of implicitly low-level fields like embedded or industrial systems, which also overlap to a fair extent with electrical engineering.
If you just want to make vidya games, find a decent engine you like and mod for it. Saves you most of the trouble.
As for languages, C is my usual go-to recommendation: while it's half a century old and really fucking rough around the edges at this point, it's also the lingua franca in terms of syntax, and knowing the basics will let you go either low-level (assembly and hardware) or high-level (C++, C#, and all the other bloatware languages) from there. You could always do simpler things like Lua or Python, but while they're technically languages in their own right, they always gave off a very scripting-like vibe, which may or may not be to your liking. Look around and see what seems interesting.
However, don't use Rust. Trust me.
First you need to learn to operate Linux at the basic level. Otherwise you will never understand what the compiler does.
Then you pick up The C Programming Language by Kernighan and Richie. Most all of Linux itself is written in C.
If you understand half of it then you can move on to pick up The C++ Programming Language by Stroustrup.
If you're still holding on after this phase you can quite easily learn Java, Kotlin, even scripting languages like Python.
I'd still say that if you can fully understand the book by Kernighan and Richie, although this may take several tries, they walk you through the basics with examples that are in fact real source code of commonly used Unix and Linux programs. That'll get you started. You don't have to be very smart but you have to be stubborn, patient and willing to READ. A lot.

Alright here's my prediction. There's going to be two classes of people. Those immune to the virus and those not immune. Forget about race, wealth, or status. The immunes will run the world, the non-immunes will never come out of this lockdown, and will likely be rounded up in labor camps. Unfortunately for us, many of the elite will be immunes. This virus is no accident and immunity isn't luck, it's by design. This is what Trump means when he says "We can do two things at once". The country will run while simultaneously many are in lockdown.

What would it take to replace the EPROM containing the UEFI code with a larger one, and loading the K.J. Bible into it, then add a menu item that loads it in an ASCII-based reader. We need to make Terry's wish come true.
